3 Tips to Clear the Clutter | Spring Cleaning for Your Career Search

It’s easy to get stuck in a rut especially during a work-from-home winter. Sometimes all it takes is a little early spring cleaning to get your momentum moving forward.

East Coast winters can be particularly long and cold, but finally, spring is in the air. I always look forward to spring as a fresh start even if I can't see or feel it yet. Remember, the buds will come out soon from under all that ice and you’ll want to be ready to make the most of the new opportunities for growth. It’s time to begin dusting the cobwebs off of your career search and make room for improvements. These three tips will help you see that a little tidying up can go a long way to prepare you for success.

1. Make your workplace work:

Chances are if you are searching for a new career you may be spending a lot of time from your computer at home. While it can be nice to have all the comforts of home, it can also be very distracting. You may need to rethink your workspace and spring cleaning is the perfect time to try out some new ideas. Moving your career forward is hard work, having the right workspace helps to keep you motivated. What’s your biggest workspace breakthrough? Our professional organizer advisor, Linda, always has the best ideas for organizing your space for maximum productivity.

2. Tidy up your resume and LinkedIn profile:

Is it time to rebrand and are you telling your story? Are there other ways to promote your brand? I recently had one of the Nest advisors, Alison Nissen, conduct a #Branded video as a new medium to tell my story. How are you telling yours?

3. Let in some fresh air:

Once you've done all the hard work of preparing your surroundings for a fresh start, you can turn that positive energy towards your own personal well-being. Clear your mind, relax, and be open to new growth. Sometimes, it's as easy as opening the windows, letting in some fresh air, and breathing deeply. Deep breathing once a day can give a pause in your daily routine. Whether we do it in the car or in a quiet room can allow us to open our perspective in our life and career.
