Well, I think we may have found the next best thing! Intermittent fasting has become a hot trend in the past few years, but fasting has been around for thousands of years. There are many benefits to fasting, including weight loss, improved blood sugar, boosting brain function, and increased longevity.
There are many ways to fast, but 16/8 is one of the easiest and most sustainable ways to ease into fasting. 16/8 Intermittent fasting means limiting your eating to an 8-hour eating window and abstaining from food and drinks (other than water, black coffee, and tea) for the remaining 16 hours.
To get started, pick your 8-hour eating window. I usually pick 12 pm-8 pm, which works for me since we usually don’t eat dinner until 7:00 pm or so. You can adjust this according to your lifestyle. Some people don’t like to skip breakfast, so they may choose to make that 8-hour window 8 am-4 pm. Whatever you choose, I suggest sticking to this schedule at least 5 days a week to see the best results.
The goal is not to overeat during your 8-hour eating period and be sure to stick to clean eating. I recommend eating two meals in that 8-hour window and a snack, only if necessary.
Intermittent fasting is not for everyone, but I recommend trying it to see if it is something that you can benefit from.
