Make Your Home Your Sanctuary

Set the Table (and your bookshelf!)

Tables:

Do you enjoy walking into a calming space after a difficult day? Discover the art of styling a dining table, coffee table, and bookshelves. Bring charm and character to your home. Embrace creativity and elevate your space with stylish tips from Interior Designer Kristina Phillips.

Start with the fabric foundation. Lay a printed tablecloth or placemats. Next, layer a runner, and add coordinating napkins. Stack plates from large to small and place silverware on napkins.

Centerpieces should be kept low - everyone wants to be able to see across from them. But if you do want to do a single centerpiece, keep it open and airy with the bulk of the flowers high. Kristina enjoys mixing vintage with modern pieces in place settings and always incorporates plenty of fresh flowers.

Bookshelves:

When setting up bookshelves, focus on functionality and aesthetics. Choose sturdy materials, adjust shelves for different book sizes, and mix vertical and horizontal arrangements. Add decorative items for visual interest and categorize books for easy

browsing. Leave room for future additions and periodically declutter to keep your shelves fresh. Consider creating a colorfully styled library with antique mirrored and grasscloth backed built-ins, 1950s Italian Stilnovo sconces, and lucite stacked lamps. Always remember: Display what you love.

When searching for the perfect piece, peruse vintage shops + markets, as well as scout out items locally made. If you take a trip, adding storied items to a space keeps your travels alive.

Unify your team around the collective vision of success and team member priorities.
